How Big is Big?

Before I get started on my topic of discussion, I just want to make a little announcement on things to come, God willing. I will kick off the new year with a new blog design! I'm so excited. At the end of the year, I'll be making another huge, HUGE announcement here on Cheryl Deni. So, stay tuned! In case you guys haven't noticed, there's some major changes going on at Cheryl Deni. Hence, the reason for redesigning my blog. My articles were very self-oriented toward the beginning of my writings. Little by little you see my topics of discussion getting
deeper and deeper in Christ. I used to write about mediocre topics, such as what I was wearing and where I was traveling. Not that I don't find enjoyment in those activities anymore, but I find enjoyment in them from a completely different perspective now. Almost as if I'm living a new life. Yes, exactly like living a new life. I will still be posting about these topics, but you're definitely going to be getting them from a different point of view. I hope you guys are as excited as I am!

I know that this development in my writing isn't a coincidence at all. As much as I want to delete some of my past writings out of embarrassment for my ignorance, my spirit has me keep them for God's glorification. It displays the edification in spirit taking place over the course of the past year. I'm pretty sure, I'll feel the exact same way about these pieces a year from now as well. That's the beauty of it all, though. I've come to realize, not who I am, but who I am not. There's a fine line, but a world of a difference in that. The more I write, the more I'm becoming less and He is becoming more within me- an experience that my physical body is hardly able to handle but my spirit is embracing fully. John 3:30 He must become greater; I must become less.

So, this piece is going to be different from anything you've ever seen on this site. I honestly don't even know what category I'm putting this under just yet. It's just weird. I don't even have a tab for science, but we'll see. With that being said, yes. My post is going to be a bit scientific today, if that's the word you want to use. Before all my brothers and sisters in Christ shut me down, give me a chance to get this out. I've been asking God to reveal Himself to me at a much more profound level. I know that this is Christ moving in me, because those of you who know me, know fully well that I DO NOT LIKE SCIENCE. I used to antagonize science, actually. I didn't want anything to do with it because I felt like it was always used to disprove God, not credit Him. Now, I see why. Had I tried to consume myself in the world of science before truly experiencing Christ within me, I would have tangled my brain in all of these scientific concepts and lost sight of Truth. This is basically what happens to anyone who consumes themselves in ANYTHING before consuming themselves in the Spirit first.

Now, I'm intrigued and my spirit embraces the world of science. God's name is glorified all that much more if treated with respect and looked at through the right lens, in Christ. One comes to realize that the world of science is simply a manifestation of all that God is capable of creating, and that's only scratching the surface. I'm asking God to reveal Himself to me and automatically He says let me show you. Of course, we get to know Him through prayer and the Word, but I think He's awesome for willing to reveal His greatness physically when our spirit is ready. Notice how I say when our spirits are ready. Therefore, this post may not be for everyone's understanding, and that's completely OK. We all come to know the Lord by His grace, not our own understanding through self-effort. As believers, we need to take extreme caution in making sure that when we are approaching science, we are approaching it in spirit, not in flesh. The enemy is waiting for an open door to bring confusion and separation of the spirit. Brace yourselves.

I did some research. I tried to simplify this as much as I could for the sake of not sounding like an alien from another planet. Like I said, this stuff is pretty cool. These were my findings.

First of all, I was just mind blown to acknowledge the fact that the Earth and all these other stars hang on absolutely nothing! Just being enabled to make that fact my reality blew me out of this world. I literally stopped for a couple of minutes, just now, to meditate on that fact. I. Am. Mind. Blown. Moving on, the World Bank puts the world at 7.125 billion people populating the planet as of 2013. NASA states it would take 7 months to travel from Earth to the sun. It takes 109 earths to run across the face of the sun, but the sun is only considered a medium star compared to all the other stars in the Milky Way Galaxy, our galaxy. Not to mention that the sun is placed at the exact required distance from the Earth to sustain life on the planet. If it were any closer, it would burn us to death, and if it were any farther our planet would freeze over. This is a little hard to grasp, but I'm capable of grasping the overall concept I think. That's pretty big. Let's go deeper.

Above is the Milky Way Galaxy, the galaxy we live in. The arrow is pointing to our point of location within this galaxy. Can you see us? I can't. We're in there somewhere, though. Now, in this galaxy there are approximately 300 billion other stars that accompany ours to make up this one galaxy we live in. OK, so now I'm lost. 300 billion stars; I can't wrap my mind around that anymore. That in itself brings glorification to God's name and shows His unimaginable reach. Absolutely amazing. Praise and glory be to Him for, clearly, only He is worthy. Guess what? You guessed it. Let's go deeper. I'm already completely lost at this point, but that's OK. That's kinda my point. Let's go deeper.

Choose any of those little specks you see there. No one can tell you which one we are. The only thing our limited understanding can tell us is that there are hundreds of billions more Milky Ways/galaxies just like ours in the universe. In each one of those specks, there are hundreds of billions more specks to be discovered. Insane! This only scratches the surface of who our God is! The rest is still a mystery, since no one is able to tell just how big the universe really is. So, how big is big? Mind. Blown.

The photo above displays a supernova that took place 14 billion years ago. This image, to me, sheds light on how God is able to be in the past, the present, and the future. Looking at this image, it's simple to believe that God is both here with me and there at that supernova I'm looking at now. He is here is with me in the present, and there at that supernova 14 billion years ago. It's a perfect example showing us how God exists outside of time. It perfectly explains how one day can be a thousand years to Him, and a thousand years can be one day to Him. He is everywhere. He is everything.

So, what does this tell us exactly? It tells us not what we are, but what we ARE NOT. We ARE NOT God. We are not even in the same realm of thinking when it comes to understanding God for all that He is. It's almost hard to come back to Earth after all these images, but that's actually kinda perfect. That's exactly what God is calling His Church to do. Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. He calls us to believe INTO Christ, so we may be enabled to live in another realm of thinking- in the realm of His kingdom. I'm not talking about dwelling on things in outer space. His kingdom is here, guys! Here on Earth. Where? Inside of us. Christ has already died for us, so we are already in Him. Once this becomes our reality and believe He is our King and Savior, He calls us to be baptized in His name by being buried for all that we were in our old creation and be resurrected with His life by His Holy Spirit as a new creation the moment we come out of that water. From that point on, His kingdom is ours, in us for the rest of eternity. From there, we start to build on Him as our foundation toward sanctification. I will go way deeper into all of this, but for the sake of the length of this post, I will leave it for posts to come.

Ask yourself. After seeing all of these images and learning of just a tad bit of His greatness, do you still feel the same? Do you still feel you should be worried about how your life is going to plan out? Are you still worried about your family, your boyfriend/girlfriend, your career, how much money you make, or what bar you're going to be at this weekend? Are you still telling God you want to do things a certain way because you don't believe His way is gonna work? It's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous to think that I doubt Him in my times of struggle. Here is our God, who created all things, knows all things, and understands all things, but I still doubt His ability to have control over what's happening in my life. Allow Him to take you out of this earthly realm of living, so He can truly reveal His heavenly realm and who He is inside of you. You won't need anyone to teach you anything. You won't need anyone to tell you how to live your life, and it won't be you going through your struggles on your own, or at all for that matter. He wants to do all of it inside of you for you because He will be the one to receive all the glorification for it. Start thinking about eternity.

1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in Him.

Until next time. I'm done.

    1. Right. No one needs to convince us of the Truth. God will do it for us and through us. Don't misunderstand me, though. We still need each other for fellowship and for the building up of the Body of Christ. We all belong to one Church and Body of Christ. The spirit leads us to build one another in spirit each and every day through our encounters with one another. Let's talk more! :) cherylxdeni@gmail.com

  5. The universe will never be understood. It shows God's greatness. A greatness that can't be understood with the capabilities he gave us. I personally liked this post. You didnt try to prove or disprove anything you just laid out the facts and let ppl decide for themsevles you didnt try to convince anyone of what to believe. thanks for sharing.
