If you follow me on Snapchat (@cheryldeni), you guys know that I traveled to Los Angeles, California about a week ago. My experience was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it! I don’t know what I was thinking. I guess I was expecting to see a very luxurious, industrialized LA. Maybe I was on the wrong side of town. I don’t know. It reminded me a lot of Mexico, which isn’t surprising since Mexico is right across the border.
None of this is a bad thing. It’s just, like I said, different from what I expected. There was a lot of parallel parking, very limited space, and narrow streets. Not to mention, they don’t have left traffic signals in LA. That was interesting. It gave the city a very “beachy” vibe. I was expecting to see celebrities walking down the street doing life, and that was not the case, LOL. I think I saw like one or two celebrities during my stay there, and they were celebrities I had never seen before. I can, however, almost swear that I saw Spencer Hasting’s mom from Pretty Little Liars. I think her name is (googling now), Lesly Fera. I didn’t actually get to see her face, but I heard her voice. She has such a distinct tone of voice that I promise it was her. She turned her face right as I turned to check and never fully confirmed. I was still star struck. Call me lame. All of this happened on our tour of the Warner Bros. Studio, which will be included in a separate vlog probably next week. There is way too much ground to cover on that, so I’m separating that footage into it’s own film.
We flew with Southwest Airlines, and I guess I’ve been living under a rock or something because I had no idea you were allowed to check in baggage for free. That was awesome, so thank you, Southwest Air. Also, we got a rental since we knew we were going to be driving around everywhere. Going to Malibu beach wasn’t going to be cheap on an Uber. We got our rental with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and they were great. They were quick and courteous.
We shopped at places like The Grove and Melrose Street, which was filled with back to back boutiques that sold designer clothing for less. I scored a cute BCBG top for under $40! I’ll be sure to post it on my Instagram soon. Feel free to follow along for more cute finds. We ate at places like Paradise Cove in Malibu Beach, Marmalade Cafe, and we couldn’t skip our 2am night run to the Sprinkles Cupcakes ATM for a red velvet dessert. It was so good. Take a look at my awesome cupcake down below. Our 2am trip is included in the film as well.
Then, we went on a hike to the Hollywood Sign because, you know, Cheryl just had to see the Hollywood Sign. I was in for a treat. I thought this hike was gonna be a short walk in the park. Oh. My. Goodness. I am so out of shape! I was dying. Laura was chillin. She kept looking back at me every few minutes like, “You can do it, sugarplum!” The point is, we got there. As slow as I was, we didn’t give up and got some amazing views of Los Angeles. I don’t regret it for a second.
I wasn’t too much for the night life on this trip. I was asleep by 9pm most days. Call me a granny because I totally am. We did go out one night, and it was a total bust. We went to this place called “Hide.” It was so hard to get in anywhere. You had to know someone who knew someone basically. They were trying to get us to pay $1k for a table. I was like, “I’m not trying to do that! I need to eat.” So, our friend had to pay some extra cash just to get us in. That was nice of him. Thank you, Marcus. I’m changing your name to Marcus because I didn’t get your approval to post your name on this article.
We also went to Malibu Beach. That was so nice. It was so quiet. We didn’t really want to be at a hotspot beach full of tourists. We just wanted to take our vacation in and relax. So, we chose a really quiet spot, as seen in the photos below. More can be seen on the vlog as well. We did so much more, but I’ll let everyone enjoy the film now.
